About the Role
Shellharbour City Council is looking for two proactive, customer-oriented people to join its Regulation and Compliance team. The role focuses on carrying out regulatory duties that support compliance with Council requirements and community expectations.
Key Duties
- Carry out city-wide patrols and inspections to check compliance with parking rules, animal management obligations and local laws.
- Look into customer requests, complaints and non-compliance reports, using the relevant legislation, policies and procedures to reach fair and practical outcomes.
- Assist with the administration and enforcement of companion animal legislation, including handling animals, delivering education and supporting compliance activities.
- Prepare and issue warnings, infringement notices and other regulatory documents in line with legislative requirements and Council policy.
- Work with residents, businesses and visitors to explain requirements and encourage compliance with parking, animal management and community regulations.
- Keep clear and accurate records, produce reports and assist with investigations and other regulatory action that supports public safety and community amenity.
- Apply best-practice regulatory enforcement by identifying, investigating and resolving matters effectively and in line with legislation.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should be resilient, accountable and professional in day-to-day work. You will also need to be comfortable dealing with a wide range of people and handling situations calmly and fairly.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications in law enforcement or investigations, or a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services), or be currently enrolled in one of these areas. Experience in customer-facing roles and exposure to a regulatory or enforcement environment will be highly regarded.

Work Arrangements
Temporary arrangements may be considered for full-time, part-time or job-share options for the right applicant, up to January 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Full-time hours are 38 per week, with the option of a 9-day fortnight and weekend work. Part-time or job-share arrangements are Monday to Friday, 7.6 hours per day, from 8:30am to 4:36pm with a 30-minute break.
Pay and Benefits
The starting salary range is $73,554 to $81,209 per annum for a full-time position, depending on qualifications and experience, plus 12% superannuation.

Pre-employment Checks
