Job description
Position Overview
We are inviting applications for a motivated and innovative Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join the Lambeth Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This role supports national initiatives aimed at improving mental health accessibility for children and young people through early intervention in community settings.
Role Details
The CWP will deliver low-intensity interventions based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles, primarily targeting mild to moderate mental health challenges. Services include evidence-based guided self-help for young people and their families, along with psychoeducation, group sessions, and appropriate referrals for complex cases.
The Child and Youth Wellbeing Team in Lambeth is expanding and enhancing community partnerships. The CWP will collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary CAMHS environment, participating in meetings, reflective practice, and ongoing clinical skills development.
Team and Community Context
The team comprises clinical leads, CBT therapists, and trainee practitioners, working within an ethnically diverse borough characterized by significant multi-lingual and multicultural populations. An understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on mental health in children and young people is essential. Lambeth's demographic includes nearly 70,000 youths aged 0-20, with a majority under 10 years, living in a highly diverse community.
