Child & Online Safety Expert

Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a Child & Online Safety Expert working remotely from the United Kingdom. The engagement is expected to involve 10 to 40 hours per week, with compensation set between $50 and $90 per hour.

What you will do

• Build detailed classification systems around self-harm, suicide prevention, eating disorders, and emotional dependence in online settings.
• Set practical standards for digital support and clinical safety focused on young people and adolescents.
• Develop methods to detect, mark, and assess harmful online material and guidance linked to mental-health emergencies involving minors.
• Create and improve clinical response guides and escalation steps for individuals considered at risk in digital spaces.
• Work closely with project leads so that evaluation criteria and policies reflect current research and accepted clinical practice.
• Contribute subject-matter input on CSAM-related policy and online exploitation risks to strengthen child-safety protections.
• Provide concise, useful written and spoken feedback that helps shape AI safety tools and related frameworks.

Experience and qualifications

• Proven background in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, eating-disorder intervention, or a closely related area.
• Must be a licensed therapist, psychiatrist, clinician, or other mental-health professional with direct crisis-response experience.
• Hands-on expertise in clinical risk evaluation and intervention within online or digital environments.
• An advanced degree, specialized credential, or equivalent practical experience in mental health or child-safety work is required.
• Prior work with CSAM-related policy or initiatives aimed at preventing child online exploitation is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to different audiences.
