Job description
Role Overview
A prominent research organization is creating a clinically rigorous standard to assess how companion chatbots respond to adolescents experiencing mental health crises. They seek expert clinicians and researchers specialized in child and adolescent mental health to establish evaluation criteria that will guide the responsible use and deployment of these technologies on a broad scale.
Responsibilities
- Compose fictional adolescent mental health case scenarios based on authentic clinical expertise, ensuring realism, appropriateness for developmental stages, and ethical soundness.
- Create and enhance clinician-informed evaluation rubrics focusing on areas such as suicide and self-harm risk, therapeutic impersonation, and parasocial attachment.
- Analyze selected generated conversations, delivering structured expert judgments to calibrate automated evaluation systems.
- Provide guidance on best practices for evaluating chatbot behaviors in crisis referral, safety planning, emotional dependency, and discouraging avoidance of professional care.
- Collaborate with researchers to establish rigorous, independent benchmarks that could impact future clinical and safety standards.
Candidate Profile
- Holds an advanced degree such as MD, DO, PhD, PsyD, or an equivalent qualification in Psychiatry, Psychology, or related mental health fields.
- Has clinical or research experience centered on children and adolescents, with expertise in areas such as suicide prevention, self-harm assessment, child/adolescent psychiatry, clinical psychology, digital mental health, or evidence-based therapies like DBT and CBT.
- Possesses strong written communication skills capable of providing structured, actionable clinical feedback.
- Comfortable with drafting fictional clinical scenarios and applying evaluative judgment to text-based interactions.
- Preferred qualifications include published research related to adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, or digital therapeutics, and experience crafting clinical guidelines or assessment frameworks.
Role Details and Compensation
- Compensation ranges from $80 to $150 USD per hour.
- The role is a remote, hourly contract requiring approximately 10 to 15 hours weekly; hours may adjust based on project demands and performance.
