Job description

Role overview

This Whitehorse-based position is part of Transitional Support Services, where children and youth are supported through trauma-informed, relationship-centered care in therapeutic group homes and outreach settings. The young people served may have faced trauma and loss and may show a broad range of adaptive behaviours.

The Child and Youth Case Worker reports to the Supervisor of Transitional Support Services and provides shift-level oversight to front-line staff, along with intensive therapeutic and practical support to young people dealing with behavioural, social, emotional, or addiction-related challenges linked to adverse childhood experiences. Work may occur in the home, in the community, or in both settings.

Working alongside the Supervisor and the wider care team, including clinical staff when needed, the role turns the overall care plan into day-to-day action. This includes creating, carrying out, and evaluating care and therapeutic plans that respond to the needs of children and youth while guiding front-line staff in their daily work.
