Job description

About Ngutu College

Ngutu College is an independent college offering education from Kindy through Year 12 in Woodville North, South Australia. The school is committed to rethinking education through an approach that is fair, culturally aware, and centred on the needs and experiences of each child. Its learning environment brings together Aboriginal knowledges and the formal curriculum in a practical, lived way.

Role overview

The OSHC Director will take charge of the Out of School Hours Care service at Ngutu College and ensure it operates as a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive setting for children. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Woodville North, South Australia.

In this role, you will oversee the service’s everyday operations, including planning programs, managing staff, supervising the team, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and quality expectations. You will also create and deliver activities aligned with the college’s vision and the My Time Our Place framework and/or the Early Years Learning Framework.

Key duties

Your work will include coordinating daily schedules, keeping accurate enrolment and attendance records, handling budgets and resources, and staying in regular contact with families, school personnel, and external stakeholders. You will also guide and mentor team members, support ongoing service improvement, and help maintain inclusive practices across the program.

Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience leading an OSHC service, childcare program, or a similar education and care environment. A relevant qualification in Education, Early Childhood, School-Aged Care, or an ACECQA-approved field is required.

You should bring strong ability in planning and delivering programs, including creating age-appropriate activities that reflect cultural and artistic priorities. A solid understanding of legislation, regulatory requirements, and quality standards for education and care services, including child safety and wellbeing obligations, is essential.

Leadership capability is important, including staff supervision, coaching, and performance development. You will also need strong communication and people skills to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.

The role calls for a genuine commitment to culturally responsive practice and respect for Aboriginal cultures and communities. Experience in culturally informed education will be considered an advantage. Strong administration skills are also needed, including record management, rostering, budgeting, and resource coordination.

You must be able to work collaboratively within a school environment and contribute to wider college initiatives while helping maintain a supportive and inclusive culture. A current working with children clearance and any other required checks are also necessary.
