Role overview
The Chief Strategy Officer will steer the organization’s long-range direction by shaping, prioritizing, and executing strategic programs that support growth, innovation, and stronger performance. This position requires close collaboration with senior leaders, business heads, and the Board to ensure strategy is grounded in market intelligence, financial insight, and organizational capabilities.
You will be expected to translate analysis into action, improve operational effectiveness, and guide major transformation efforts that strengthen the company’s competitive position and long-term sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Create and roll out strategic initiatives that reinforce the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
- Own the corporate planning cycle and use analytical frameworks to support decision-making and track progress.
- Work with executive peers and functional leaders to ensure department-level plans stay aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Review market movements, competitor activity, and internal performance data to identify pivots and expansion opportunities.
- Oversee strategic programs and high-impact projects so they remain aligned with objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Present updates, insights, risks, and future opportunities to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Promote a data-led strategy culture by tying business actions to metrics, evidence, and performance indicators.
- Build and support partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to encourage innovation and stronger market position.
- Encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking across the organization to improve strategic execution.
- Track technology shifts and competitive developments, and adjust the strategic roadmap accordingly.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in strategy development and execution within a corporate setting, with a strong history of defining long-term direction.
- Solid background in market research, competitive strategy, and business model innovation with clear business impact.
- Experience reshaping corporate strategy in response to changing markets, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
- Strong financial understanding, including budget oversight, forecasting, and KPI development.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams through hiring, coaching, and mentorship.
- Advanced project management capability, including leading large-scale, multi-million-dollar initiatives from planning through delivery.
- Strong stakeholder networking skills with the ability to form productive relationships across internal and external groups.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills to inform strategy and executive decisions.
- Strong presentation and communication skills for explaining complex strategic ideas to executives and board-level audiences.
- Deep awareness of digital transformation, emerging technologies, and organizational change management.
- Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related discipline; a PhD or similar advanced degree is an added advantage.
