Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer

Job overview

This senior executive role sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and commercial leadership. Reporting directly to the CEO, CFO, and Strategic Advisor, the position is responsible for shaping the group’s commercial direction, supporting financial planning, overseeing capital management, managing investor relations, and contributing to board-level decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial thinking for major strategic initiatives, transactions, partnerships, and capital raising activities.
• Work closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modelling, and broader financial planning.
• Drive engagement with investors and analysts, including market communication and capital markets activity.
• Develop board papers, business cases, and strategic recommendations for executive review.
• Track commercial outcomes, identify risks, and assess market opportunities.

Requirements

• A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or another closely related discipline is required.
• At least 12 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, corporate strategy, or a senior commercial leadership role.
• Strong background in the mining/resources sector and exposure to capital markets.
• Advanced capability in financial modelling, strategic analysis, and stakeholder management.

Location

The role is based in Brisbane, Australia. Candidates based in Brisbane or Sydney may be considered, with regular travel expected, including trips to Papua New Guinea. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
