This role is for a Chief of Staff partnering closely with the COO at a forward-thinking platform dedicated to enhancing democracy worldwide. The ideal candidate will act as a senior strategic operator, driving the execution of high-priority initiatives within the organization's Operations function. This position translates strategy into actionable plans, clarifies operational goals, and supports the COO in focusing on critical, high-impact decisions.
The organization is pioneering a democratic platform that harnesses AI to empower citizens and unite diverse political perspectives to develop shared civic solutions. Its flagship petitions platform attracts millions yearly and is undergoing a complete rebuild to turn individuals into effective civic leaders. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted extension of the COO by foreseeing information needs, rigorously evaluating decisions, and preparing thorough briefings that advance budget processes, policy deliberations, and top strategic priorities.
- Develop and uphold the operational rhythm that ensures the COO and Operations leadership remain prioritized, well-prepared, and accountable, from weekly cycles to annual strategy planning.
- Represent the COO credibly in cross-departmental settings, facilitate leadership forums including executive meetings and retreats, and maintain progress when the COO is unavailable.
- Promote operational excellence through auditing and enhancing key processes to guarantee disciplined execution within the Operations function.
Essential Competencies
- Strategic Judgment: Grasp organizational priorities, linking immediate tasks to long-term goals, and exercise sound decision-making amidst complex variables.
- Operational Leadership & Execution: Design and manage systems that keep the COO's office and Operations focused and effective; possess expertise across operations domains such as finance, HR, or legal rather than solely consulting or project management.
- Executive Communication & Influence: Expert at simplifying complex information for diverse audiences, crafting briefing materials that enable decision-making, and persuading senior leaders without formal authority.
- Relationship Building & Collaboration: Quickly build trust and robust partnerships across senior teams to foster alignment and teamwork.
- Interest in AI and Adaptability: Enthusiastic about AI’s potential impact on organizational operations, eager to learn new tools, with a systems thinking approach and growth mindset.
Experience Requirements
- 7 to 10+ years of experience in operational, strategic, or Chief of Staff roles within dynamic tech or mission-focused organizations.
- Proven track record supporting or collaborating directly with top executives such as COOs or CEOs.
- Previous roles as Chief of Staff, Head of Operations, or Strategy/Operations lead demonstrated.
- Operational background encompassing finance, people management, legal, or similar areas, beyond general consulting or strategy.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position available to candidates based in the US, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, or Mexico.
Annual compensation ranges by location as follows: USD $187,500 to $220,000 (US), CAD $188,500 to $206,500 (Canada), ARS 94,031,500 (Argentina), BRL 373,500 (Brazil), and MXN 1,609,500 (Mexico). Benefits vary depending on location.
