Job description
About the company
The company is working to reshape grocery retail by helping people access the foods they want and need, while also supporting flexible earning opportunities for shoppers. It operates as a critical service for millions of customers and continues to expand its team to support that mission.
This is a Flex First organization, which means employees can choose the work setting that helps them do their best work, including home, an office, or another preferred location, while staying connected through regular in-person gatherings.
Role overview
The Advertising business is growing quickly, and leading a large retail media platform across marketplace, off-platform, and in-store experiences requires strong operational control. The Chief of Staff to the General Manager of Advertising will act as the central connector across the organization, helping the GM and leadership team stay aligned, focused, and effective.
Within the first year, the expectation is that the Ads organization will operate with sharper priorities, better coordination across functions, and stronger execution support so the GM can spend more time on strategy and growth.
What success looks like
- The Advertising team will run on a dependable operating cadence, with meetings, leadership routines, and internal communications planned and executed consistently so senior leaders can focus on the highest-value work.
- Cross-functional stakeholders and outside partners will come into major discussions well-prepared, because they receive concise briefings, strong talking points, and supporting analysis in advance.
- Key initiatives across the Ads organization will move forward on schedule because dependencies are tracked, obstacles are raised early, and teams stay aligned before issues escalate.
- Budget tracking across workforce and non-workforce spending will be accurate and visible through close coordination with Finance, giving the GM a solid basis for annual planning.
- The GM will have a trusted strategic partner who can both advise at a high level and handle execution, enabling more effective leadership and stronger business growth.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the operating rhythm for the Advertising organization, including leadership meetings, team cadences, and internal communications.
- Prepare executive-ready materials for the GM and senior leaders, including briefs, talking points, and decision support documents.
- Track progress across multiple high-priority initiatives and flag risks, blockers, and dependencies early.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment ahead of key meetings and decisions.
- Support budget management and annual planning by partnering with Finance on workforce and non-workforce spend.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the GM, helping translate strategy into action and supporting follow-through on priority workstreams.
- Strengthen organizational clarity by improving communication, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in consulting, corporate technology, or advertising/media, with exposure to executive-level stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of digital advertising, retail media, or a closely related field.
- Strong emotional intelligence and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders.
- Ability to give candid feedback thoughtfully and influence outcomes in a constructive way.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear, actionable plans.
- Proven project management experience handling several high-stakes workstreams at once under tight timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create polished executive materials and represent the GM’s voice accurately.
- Preferred background includes work in fast-growing technology companies, building processes from the ground up, and partnering with Finance on budgeting and business planning.
