Role Overview
The Chief of Staff, Business Operations, acts as a key strategic partner to the CEO, championing organizational harmony and managing cross-department projects while ensuring execution of the executive's priorities. This senior position combines strategy, operations, internal communication, and leadership to amplify the CEO’s effectiveness and provide trusted counsel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation and implementation of annual and quarterly strategic plans, defining clear goals, KPIs, and priorities.
- Convert executive vision into concrete plans and cross-functional initiatives.
- Track company performance, identify potential risks, and propose solutions.
- Deliver data-supported insights, briefing documents, and decision-making frameworks for the CEO.
- Prepare high-level presentations, board reports, and strategic communications.
- Serve as an advisory partner on critical decisions and maintain discretion on confidential issues.
- Facilitate coordination across departments such as Finance, HR, Operations, and Product.
- Lead special projects ensuring timelines and objectives are consistently met.
- Resolve inter-team challenges and proactively escalate significant issues.
- Craft executive communications including speeches and company-wide updates.
- Manage relationships with partners, investors, and senior leaders to ensure aligned messaging.
- Enhance internal operations by optimizing processes, meeting cadences, and workflows.
- Oversee key business rhythms including leadership meetings, offsites, and quarterly reviews.
- Implement effective tracking systems for priorities, KPIs, and strategic projects.
- Collaborate with HR on leadership development, organization structuring, and recruitment efforts.
- Support initiatives aimed at fostering company culture and engaging employees.
- Mentor up-and-coming leaders with high potential within the company.
- Handle sensitive and confidential matters with utmost discretion including crisis management and executive conflict resolution.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree and an MBA is mandatory.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategy, consulting, operations, or senior leadership roles.
- Proven experience collaborating closely with senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-departmental initiatives effectively.
Preferred Experience
- Background in startups, SaaS platforms, or service-oriented enterprises.
- Exposure to fractional or consulting positions.
- Familiarity with software tools such as HubSpot, Asana, Notion, Salesforce, or business intelligence platforms.
Compensation & Terms
- Salary range between CAD 100,000 and 120,000 per year plus a 15% performance-based bonus.
- Eligibility to join the company's stock option scheme after six months of continuous employment.
- Role requires attendance in-office five days a week at the Mississauga, Ontario location.
