Job description

Overview

Macmillan Davies is collaborating with a rapidly expanding AI startup based in New York City to hire an outstanding Chief of Staff. This pivotal, founder-facing role offers a unique chance to immerse yourself in the foundational stages of building a dynamic early-phase company. The role spans multiple domains including fundraising, strategic planning, go-to-market activities, operations, analytics, partnerships, and product development. It requires adaptability to focus on whatever the business prioritizes each week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support all stages of fundraising from investor outreach, deck refinement, data-room handling to follow-ups.
  • Manage operational initiatives from identifying problems to delivering solutions, including evaluating vendors, overseeing hiring, and designing workflows.
  • Perform detailed commercial and operational data analyses to generate insights on lead conversion, unit economics, and partner performance.
  • Drive go-to-market efforts such as lead generation, partnership development, and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Create high-standard investor presentations, internal reports, briefing documents, and external communications independently.
  • Initiate and develop projects and processes from the ground up, with a focus on systemization, automation, or handover as the company scales.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple critical business challenges, often handling several projects simultaneously.

Candidate Profile

  • Between 1 and 3 years’ professional experience in top consulting firms, investment banking, strategic roles, or similarly demanding environments.
  • Possess strong analytical and commercial acumen, adept with Excel or Google Sheets, financial modeling, and interpreting complex data.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of producing polished, clear, and persuasive materials for senior internal and external audiences.
  • Highly resourceful and proactive, able to take initiative and progress projects without always having complete information.
  • Based in New York City or committed to relocating for this on-site role.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in startups, fintech, insurtech, or AI-centered companies.
  • Knowledge of insurance, financial services, or regulated sectors.
  • Experience managing multifaceted projects with multiple stakeholders or overseeing external partnerships.
  • Familiarity with operational or commercial analysis and lighter financial modeling.

Compensation

The salary range offered for this position is $160,000 to $190,000 annually, along with equity options.
