Role Summary

The Chief of Operations will be instrumental in establishing and scaling the operational backbone at Open Ring as the company prepares for initial product shipments and early-stage growth. This leadership position involves creating and managing systems, processes, and collaboration across supply chain, logistics, hiring, commercial activities, and overall business operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and maintain foundational operational frameworks encompassing supply chain, logistics, and business procedures.
• Oversee engagements with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and other external collaborators to ensure timely product delivery and readiness.
• Develop and refine workflows for sourcing, procurement, order fulfillment, shipping, and coordination across company operations.
• Provide operational support to commercial functions including sales, partnerships, launch activities, and marketing coordination.
• Assist with hiring processes, onboarding, and establishing robust people operations frameworks to support team expansion.
• Align cross-departmental efforts involving product development, engineering, vendors, and business units to meet deadlines and responsibilities.
• Create transparent internal reporting systems and documentation to minimize dependency on founders' direct oversight.
• Identify operational inefficiencies, prioritize enhancements, and implement practical solutions to boost operational speed and consistency.
• Partner closely with founders to convert strategic objectives into actionable operational plans.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of leadership experience in operations, supply chain, manufacturing, business operations, or commercial operations.
• Background in wearables, consumer electronics, hardware, IoT, medtech-adjacent fields, or similar physical product industries is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to build or enhance operational systems within startup or rapidly growing companies.
• Demonstrated skill managing cross-functional projects with structured progress across multiple business areas.
• Experience collaborating with external vendors, manufacturers, and logistics providers is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and judgment capabilities.
• A high degree of ownership mentality and capability to serve as a senior strategic partner to company founders.
• Balance strategic foresight with practical, hands-on execution effectively.
• Prior startup experience is strongly favored.

Additional Information

• This is a senior role undertaken on a part-time, onsite basis at the company’s Berlin, Germany location.
• The role currently offers equity compensation exclusively as the company is in its early stages and pre-launch.
• There is potential advancement opportunity to a Chief Operating Officer position as the business expands.
