About the role

A large physician-led healthcare organization with multiple sites is looking for an accomplished Chief Executive Officer to guide its next phase of expansion, operational strength, and financial performance. The business spans several locations and service lines, including orthopedic care, ambulatory surgery, rehabilitation, and related ancillary offerings.

This leadership role calls for someone who can shape strategy, work closely with physician leaders and executive teams, and steer the organization toward sustainable growth while maintaining high standards of patient care, operational discipline, and financial stewardship.

Strategic leadership

  • Create and carry out the organization’s long-range growth plan and overall strategic direction.
  • Spot opportunities for new locations, acquisitions, partnerships, and additional service lines.
  • Lead organization-wide planning so that all business units stay aligned.
  • Track market movements, regulatory updates, and competitive developments that may affect the business.

Operations and performance

  • Oversee everyday operations across all locations and service areas.
  • Build consistency, efficiency, and quality standards throughout the enterprise.
  • Introduce process improvements that strengthen patient experience, provider productivity, and financial outcomes.
  • Define and monitor KPIs across operational functions.

Financial management

  • Work with finance leadership to prepare annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Support revenue growth while maintaining disciplined expense control and operational effectiveness.
  • Review performance against financial targets, including EBITDA goals.
  • Assess investment options and capital allocation decisions.

Physician and stakeholder engagement

  • Develop trusted relationships with physician shareholders, clinical leaders, and providers.
  • Partner with physician leadership to keep clinical and operational priorities aligned.
  • Build agreement among stakeholders and guide the organization through change.
  • Assist with physician hiring, retention, and succession planning efforts.

Team leadership

  • Hire, coach, and develop executive and operational leaders.
  • Encourage a workplace culture centered on accountability, teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Ensure leadership teams remain focused on the company’s goals and values.

Compliance and governance

  • Maintain adherence to healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, and HR partners to reduce organizational risk.
  • Provide updates and recommendations to ownership, boards, and governance groups as needed.
