Job description

Role overview

The Christie is looking for a senior clinical digital leader to help drive excellence across patient care, research, and technology-enabled transformation. This role sits at the point where clinical practice and digital delivery meet, with responsibility for shaping how digital systems support safer, more effective, and higher-quality care.

As Chief Clinical Information Officer, you will provide strategic leadership for clinical digital work, ensuring that systems are designed, introduced, improved, and reviewed in line with the organisation’s priorities, national policy expectations, and patient safety standards.

This is a prominent leadership position within the Digital Services senior team and the nursing leadership framework. You will oversee the clinical digital transformation function, including digital nurses, and work closely with clinical, operational, and digital colleagues to make sure services and systems are practical, safe, and effective in supporting better outcomes.

About The Christie

The Christie is one of Europe’s foremost cancer centres and cares for more than 60,000 patients each year. Based in Manchester, it serves a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, while also receiving around 15% of its patients from other parts of the UK as a national specialist service.

The organisation delivers radiotherapy through one of the world’s largest radiotherapy departments, provides chemotherapy on site and through 14 partner hospitals, and offers highly specialised surgery for complex and rare cancers alongside a broad range of diagnostic and support services.

It is also recognised internationally for research, with a century of breakthrough work behind it. The centre runs one of Europe’s largest early clinical trial units, conducting more than 300 trials annually, and cancer research in Manchester - much of it based at The Christie - has been officially rated the best in the UK.
