Chief Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to join our financial team based in Lusail, Qatar. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in financial reporting, accounting management, and regulatory compliance, coupled with strong leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage daily accounting functions and supervise the accounting team.
• Handle month-end and year-end financial closings efficiently.
• Prepare and evaluate financial statements adhering to IFRS.
• Ensure prompt reconciliation of accounts, bank statements, and inventory records.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and corporate policies.
• Lead coordination of both internal and external audit activities.
• Oversee cash flow management and contribute to budgeting and financial planning efforts.
• Enhance internal control systems and optimize accounting processes.
• Deliver financial reports and analyses to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including 2 to 3 years in a Chief Accountant or senior supervisory capacity.
• Comprehensive understanding of IFRS, taxation, financial reporting, and internal control practices.
• Preferred possession of professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or their equivalents.
• Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
• Previous exposure to commodity trading within the oil and gas sector is highly desirable.
