Overview
This role is part of the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) programme, offering a 2-year contract based in Singapore, which serves as the regional hub for Asia Pacific for a leading biopharmaceutical company ranked among the Best Employers in Singapore for 2020 and 2021. The company has a rich history, operating in Singapore for over 25 years and in the Asia Pacific region for more than 60 years.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee assigned chemical processes, including detailed hand-over of processes between shifts.
- Complete all relevant process documentation and verify accuracy of preceding shift records.
- Clean vessels and pipeline systems before and after batch operations.
- Conduct all necessary pre-batch inspections and prepare vessels by charging solids or liquids as specified.
- Perform post-charge verifications and apply corrective measures if required.
- Adjust and monitor process conditions by interpreting automation data and manual assessments.
- Carry out routine sampling and occasional testing, coordinating transfer of process streams to other units.
- Monitor parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, pH, volume, color, salt and moisture content and adjust accordingly using Distributed Control System (DCS) and manual observations.
- Conduct batch and offloading activities and operate auxiliary equipment like vacuum pumps, water systems, and VOC scrubbers.
- Document all operational and analytical data, report abnormalities to Shift Production Lead.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and maintain material segregation with accurate labeling.
- Perform routine inspections and cleaning for process and facility equipment.
- Manage materials for production, monitor inventory, and alert supervisors of shortages or anomalies.
- Coordinate maintenance requirements, prepare equipment for service tasks, including depressurizing and cleaning.
- Provide on-the-job training to fellow Chemical Technicians and assist in material handling including forklift and reach-truck operations.
- Support alternate or simultaneous processes as directed, participate in emergency response team, meetings, and training sessions, and maintain required qualifications and development milestones.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of Higher NITEC or Diploma in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or Science, or equivalent practical operations experience.
- Strong awareness of good stewardship practices such as current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), regulatory inspection readiness, and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines, particularly in cleaning, housekeeping, maintenance, environmental control, validation, change control, and manufacturing practices.
- Exemplification of ethics, integrity, and a results-oriented mindset.
- A commitment to customer and patient focus with rapid but disciplined decision-making capability.
- Confidence to act with courage and candor, nurturing talent and promoting teamwork.
- Demonstration of inclusive behaviors and effective communication skills.
