About the Role
At Ashbury Nursing Home, the well-being and comfort of our residents are paramount. We are looking for a dedicated Chef/Cook who shares our commitment to delivering excellent nutrition tailored to support the dietary needs and health of our residents. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with a team focused on maintaining the highest culinary standards for our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strict adherence to Health, Safety, Fire regulations, HACCP protocols, and Infection Control standards in all catering areas.
- Assist the team in accurately documenting records related to food ordering, receiving, and storage, ensuring compliance with safety legislation.
- Support the preparation and cooking of high-quality, nutritious meals and home-baked items.
- Ensure food is stored safely and in line with legislative requirements.
- Work alongside management during internal and external audits or inspections.
- Exhibit patience, commitment, care, and a positive, humorous outlook towards life.
- Be flexible to work various shifts, including weekends.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of food allergens and comply with Environmental Health Officer regulations.
- Manage food budgeting and cost control effectively.
- Be aware of HIQA standards and health & safety risks within the work environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of two years experience, preferably in a nursing home environment.
- Qualification such as QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent is preferred.
- Valid certifications in Food Handling, HACCP, and Manual Handling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high culinary presentation standards.

- Location: Ashbury Nursing Home, 1A Kill Lane, Kill of the Grange, Dublin, A94 RK81
- Shift pattern: Full-time, averaging four shifts per week including weekends.
- Salary: Dependent on experience.
