Job description
About the company
The Warehouse Group operates some of New Zealand’s best-known retail brands, including The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, and Noel Leeming. The company focuses on creating relevant, engaging shopping experiences for customers across Aotearoa, while also supporting public-good and sustainability initiatives.
Role overview
This position is centred on delivering efficient, friendly support at the self-checkout area. As often the final touchpoint in the store, you’ll help customers pay quickly, assist them with packing, and make sure they leave with a positive experience. The role also requires you to move around the checkout area, direct shoppers to available lanes, and respond promptly to customer needs.
Working hours
The roster for this role is Sunday to Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.
Key duties
You will be expected to support customers at self-checkout, stay attentive to their needs, and handle difficult situations with patience and calmness. You’ll also work closely with the loss prevention team by escalating concerns when needed and keeping the checkout zone tidy, stocked with bags, and ready for customers.
About you
This role suits someone who brings strong communication skills, a positive mindset, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a customer-facing environment such as retail or hospitality would be helpful, though it is not mandatory. You should also be comfortable standing for extended periods.
What’s offered
Team members receive access to discounts through the Team Card, paid birthday leave each year, a paid day off annually for community contribution through Here for Good Leave, and opportunities to grow into other roles within the business. Additional benefits are also available.
