Job description
Role overview
This position supports dental teams by assisting with chairside procedures, preparing treatment areas, and helping maintain smooth clinical and administrative operations in a dental clinic.
Core duties
- Work alongside the dentist during procedures using a four-handed dentistry approach to improve efficiency and reduce treatment time.
- Mix, prepare, and manage restorative and impression materials as needed.
- Set up dental operatories for different specialties with the required instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Guide patients on oral hygiene practices that help protect and maintain dental health.
- Support behaviour management when caring for paediatric patients.
- Schedule appointments, receive patients, escort them after treatment, and maintain patient files and records.
- Carry out general front-office and clinic support tasks where required.
- Keep a professional attitude and conduct at all times.
- Track consumable stock, ensure materials are used appropriately, and arrange timely removal of expired items.
- Dispose of waste, chemicals, and hazardous materials in the correct manner.
- Help maintain a safe workplace in line with Dubai Health Authority safety standards and protocols.
- Follow approved infection control and patient safety practices in accordance with departmental and international standards.
- Perform preliminary patient assessment before treatment, including medical history, vital signs, and random blood sugar checks.
- Take on additional duties assigned by the clinic or department.
- Monitor clinical inventory and instrument handover records, and report any discrepancies without delay.
- Support and oversee other dental assistants when needed.
- Maintain strong clinical competence across patient care duties, including support for patients with complex needs.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Dentistry is required for this role.
