Role overview
This opportunity is for dependable and motivated catering assistants and kitchenhands to join a casual hospitality workforce in Masterton. Pay and work pattern
The pay rate is $24 to $26 per hour, plus 8% holiday pay. Payment is made weekly. Work is casual and designed to fit around your availability, with shifts mainly during the day.
Key duties
You will support kitchen and catering operations with general food service tasks, cleanliness, and preparation support. The role involves assisting chefs and catering staff during service and helping keep the kitchen running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Help with basic food preparation and day-to-day kitchen tasks
- Wash dishes and maintain a clean, orderly kitchen area
- Support chefs and catering teams while meals and services are underway
- Follow required food safety and hygiene standards
- Carry out general support tasks across catering and kitchen operations
What we are looking for
Previous experience in kitchens, catering, or broader hospitality is preferred but not essential. A positive attitude, strong reliability, and the ability to keep up in busy settings are important. You should work well with others and understand basic food hygiene practices. Food Safety Unit Standards 167 and 168 are an advantage.
