Job description

Role Overview

The Category Manager Assistant will work alongside the Category Manager to help deliver category plans for a grocery e-commerce dark store environment. The position focuses on assortment planning, pricing, promotions, inventory control, and supplier coordination, with an emphasis on using data and market insights to improve category results and keep products available in line with customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout of category plans aimed at improving sales, strengthening assortment, and positioning the category more competitively.
  • Help choose products, oversee lifecycle updates, and execute online merchandising to ensure strong product presentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors, assist with purchase-related follow-up, and help secure on-time deliveries to protect stock availability.
  • Assist with pricing decisions and promotional activities designed to lift sales and improve margins.
  • Track inventory levels and work with supply chain partners to reduce stockouts and excess stock.
  • Research market trends and competitor activity to identify consumer needs and potential category opportunities.
  • Review sales performance, monitor key metrics, and prepare reports that support business decisions and category adjustments.
  • Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to support product availability, promotion execution, and a smooth customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate product content on the e-commerce platform, including descriptions, visuals, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain management, or a similar discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or retail operations, ideally in grocery or e-commerce.
  • Working knowledge of supplier coordination and inventory control.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and inventory systems is an added advantage.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, solid organization, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and a proactive self-starter mindset.
