Job Overview
The position of Cashier / Collector entails managing customer payments, processing various types of financial transactions including cash and bank-related payments, issuing official receipts, and diligently tracking overdue customer accounts. This role also involves maintaining precise financial documentation and ensuring adherence to the company's financial protocols and policies.
Primary Duties
- Receive payments via cash, cheques, bank transfers, and POS terminals from customers.
- Provide official receipts and keep meticulous records of all payment transactions.
- Compile daily cash collection summaries and balance reconciliation.
- Ensure deposit of collected cash and cheques into the company's designated bank accounts promptly.
- Follow up with clients on overdue invoices and pending payments to secure collections.
- Collaborate with Sales, Parts, Service, and Finance departments to troubleshoot and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Maintain and update customer payment details within the ERP or accounting software.
- Generate customer account statements as needed.
- Organize and preserve payment-related documentation, receipts, and backup records systematically.
- Adhere strictly to the organization's internal financial control measures and compliance standards.
- Assist with monthly and annual financial closing processes.
- Provide necessary documentation support to auditors during internal and external audits.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries about payments and account statuses.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possession of a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 2 to 4 years of proven experience in cashier duties, accounts receivable, or collections functions.
- Preferred prior work experience in sectors such as heavy equipment, automotive, industrial, or trading companies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent platforms is advantageous.
