Position Overview
The Cash Posting Specialist role is critical for the accurate and timely entry of account receivable payments and adjustment transactions. This includes ensuring all amounts align correctly with deposits and documenting related transactions such as contractual adjustments, denials, and payment reversals within the patient accounting system. Immediate reporting of any discrepancies is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze documentation to extract necessary data for posting payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Investigate and allocate unidentified cash payments correctly and rectify posting errors.
- Manage posting and transfer of payments relating to secondary claims.
- Process ACH and credit card payments bi-monthly and apply these to accounts; submit monthly collections.
- Follow up on missing ERNs or checks to ensure deposits balance accurately, performing daily deposit reconciliations.
- Propose and implement innovative approaches to enhance quality, accuracy, efficiency, and meet departmental goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Educational attainment: High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Experience: At least 6 months in payment posting or medical billing, with familiarity in interpreting insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); excellent communication (written and verbal); collaborative team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing; proactive in innovation and critical thinking.
