About the role
Challenge Community Services is hiring a committed Case Worker to support its Foster Care program in Tuggerah, New South Wales. Reporting to the Manager Casework, this position focuses on coordinating case management for children and young people in Out of Home Care, with safety, wellbeing and long-term permanency as the central priorities.
The role requires close collaboration with children, families, foster carers and outside agencies to help achieve stable and positive outcomes. You will also be expected to participate in an on-call roster and work some after-hours shifts when needed.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee foster care placements and provide effective case management
- Create and review case plans aligned with court directions and permanency objectives
- Keep track of placements to support safety and continuity
- Run case meetings and ensure case records are complete and accurate
- Coach and support foster carers throughout the placement journey
- Encourage family connection and suitable contact arrangements
- Prepare Cultural Support Plans when they are needed
- Complete reports and other paperwork within set deadlines
- Work with important stakeholders, including the NSW Department of Communities and Justice
- Take part in the on-call roster
What you’ll need
- Hands-on case management experience in human services, such as Out of Home Care, disability or aged care
- Strong verbal and written communication, including report writing
- The ability to manage several cases at once while meeting deadlines
- Good planning and organisational abilities
- Confidence to work both independently and as part of a team
- A current Working With Children Check and a clear criminal history suitable for the role
- A current driver’s licence and a vehicle that is fully insured
Preferred knowledge
- Familiarity with NSW child protection laws and relevant practice standards
