Job Overview

This position involves ensuring the upkeep and functionality of facilities, regular inspections and repairs, gardening, and facilitating contractor work to support the facility's overall maintenance.

Key Duties

• Maintain service buildings, equipment, and facilities to ensure they are fit for use and safe.
• Use practical DIY skills to uphold the safety of service users.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks and participate in repairing all buildings.
• Assist with decorating and upkeep activities.
• Report faults and defects promptly to management.
• Participate in an on-call rota for emergency maintenance on a weekly basis.
• Coordinate with contractors during visits, including completing related paperwork and tool checks.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in a maintenance or similar role.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Adherence to established systems and procedures.
• Respectful and courteous approach toward residents, ensuring their dignity and quality of service.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing training and staff meetings.

Work Environment

Position based at Wellesley Hospital, Westpark 26, Chelston, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9FF. The hospital is a specialized mental health facility with 101 beds, serving men and women with mental health needs, including wards dedicated to Learning Disabilities and Autism. The hospital collaborates with several NHS Trusts to provide excellent care and environment for patients.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary of £25,564.50.
