Job description

Overview

Westfield Arts College is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join their busy school team in Weymouth. The role is crucial for ensuring the school's premises—including buildings, grounds, and facilities—are secure, safe, well-maintained, and presentable for pupils, staff, and visitors alike.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week, with split shifts from Monday to Thursday (07:00–10:30 and 14:30–18:30) and on Friday (07:00–10:30 and 14:30–18:00).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain the security and safety of the school site on a daily basis.
  • Perform repairs, upkeep, and improvement projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with the cleaning team to ensure a neat and inviting environment.
  • Conduct routine health and safety inspections to guarantee compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with contractors and external service providers when required.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess practical skills in maintenance and a solid understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Previous experience in a similar caretaker or maintenance role is preferred.
  • Demonstrate initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Show commitment to creating a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere on campus.
  • Hold a full, clean driving license.
