Job description
About the Role
This position sits within MacKillop Family Services’ Foster Care Development team and focuses on strengthening the recruitment and ongoing engagement of carers across Western Australia. The role combines attraction and marketing activity, child safety compliance, and practical support for carer development and retention. It reports to the Manager WA/NT and works closely with the WA out-of-home care program.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of a strategic approach for attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining foster carers.
- Help maintain carer compliance processes so recruitment and authorisation steps are followed accurately and consistently.
- Work alongside Foster Care teams to ensure standards set by MacKillop and the Department of Communities are met and maintained.
- Assist with the design and rollout of carer training, assessment processes, initial information sharing, and probity screening activities.
- Keep the Family Journey case management system up to date so carer-related activity can be tracked, reviewed, and analysed.
Role Details
This is a full-time position based in West Perth, Western Australia, within the Foster Care Development team. The role reports to the Manager WA/NT.
Selection Criteria
- Good understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, along with awareness of the issues affecting Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
- Background in out-of-home care, with a strong grasp of OOHC policy and practice.
- Proven capability in administration, coordination, project planning, event planning, and/or marketing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Well-developed professional knowledge, especially in trauma, attachment, and therapeutic care.
- Strong organisational ability, with the capacity to meet deadlines and performance expectations while working under pressure.
