Overview
The Carbon Excellence Country Coordinator is tasked with maintaining high standards of integrity, performance, and verification preparedness for BURN's biomass carbon initiatives in Zambia. This individual spearheads a data-centric Carbon Excellence framework to ensure carbon credit issuance remains robust through solid monitoring mechanisms, premium operational data, and preemptive risk assessment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and uphold carbon performance across biomass carbon projects in Zambia.
- Monitor critical carbon integrity metrics including customer accessibility for monitoring, stove-to-customer matching accuracy, validated stove usage, and sustainable adoption levels.
- Detect early signs of risk and furnish organized performance and risk reports to leadership.
- Guarantee adherence to customer eligibility aligned with carbon methodologies during distribution.
- Track distribution quality focusing on customer profile compliance, target accuracy, sales, and onboarding quality, correcting deviations as needed.
- Support ongoing process improvements and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Adapt targeting, carbon strategies, customer engagement tactics according to local contexts and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with Customer Experience, Commercial, and Product teams to enhance satisfaction, product-market alignment, adoption, sustained use, and lasting engagement.
- Serve as a customer advocate by highlighting obstacles to adoption and retention, using feedback to drive enhancements.
- Ensure proper customer onboarding with clear communication on usage, maintenance, financing, and support channels, addressing any gaps impacting stove usage or verification.
- Lead messaging campaigns and training for field personnel to boost customer education, onboarding, and long-term stove adoption.
- Assist with deploying digital monitoring tools and data gathering systems in the field.
- Confirm data accuracy, completeness, and trustworthiness across sales, customer intake, and monitoring processes.
- Validate datasets for consistency, completeness, and traceability.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis for operations, monitoring, data, and distribution challenges.
- Formulate and execute corrective actions with designated responsibility and deadlines.
- Measure intervention impact and secure resolution of persistent problems.
- Foster a culture prioritizing data integrity, quality, accountability, and customer-focus.
- Lead initiatives that optimize processes for better operational effectiveness and verification readiness.
- Embody and promote a customer-first mindset within field and operational teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a comparable discipline is required.
- At least 4-5 years of hands-on experience in operations, customer experience, quality assurance, carbon projects, or related areas.
- Proven success in elevating performance through data interpretation, root cause problem solving, and collaborating across functions.
- Strong analytical capabilities for risk identification, insight generation, and informed decision-making.
- Capable of influencing diverse stakeholders and fostering accountability without direct authority.
- Customer-oriented approach with a track record of converting customer insights into operational or commercial enhancements.
- Experience in clean cooking initiatives, carbon markets, climate finance, development projects, or last-mile distribution is an asset.
- Ready to undertake local travel and regular field visits to support monitoring, quality assurance, customer relations, and ongoing improvements.
