The Opportunity
We are seeking a Capital Works Operator to join our team in Queenstown. This role is crucial for the successful delivery of construction projects within the three waters infrastructure, ensuring Veolia meets its capital works program objectives. While the primary focus is on capital works, the scope of duties may adapt based on contractual and client requirements.

Responsibilities
- Assist the capital works team on-site to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Manage all phases of capital works projects, from initial setup to final completion.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement necessary safety protocols to achieve a zero-harm workplace.
- Liaise with the Team Lead, external contractors, and internal departments to ensure smooth project execution and maintain effective communication throughout all project stages.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality in all executed work.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date project documentation on-site.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification in drain laying or a related construction field is advantageous, though training will be provided to suitable candidates.
- Possess practical, hands-on experience in a relevant trade.
- Previous experience in the water and/or wastewater industry, with a basic understanding of water treatment technologies and processes, is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and contractors, and to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Capability to diagnose and resolve issues with damaged 3 waters infrastructure.
- Experience in civil works and operating various machinery, including excavators.
- Hold Class 2 and 4 truck licenses.
- Proven skills in problem-solving and developing effective methodologies.
- Demonstrate strong motivation, enthusiasm, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
