Role overview
This role supports safe and efficient delivery of offshore and onshore campaign and shutdown activities for an oil and gas operating environment in Doha, Qatar. The position sits within the permanent team and works on an offshore rotation of 28 days on and 28 days off. Occasional travel to shore bases and OEM or service-company workshops may be required.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure campaign and shutdown work is delivered in line with the company’s incident-free culture, health, safety and environmental standards, with the aim of achieving incident-free shutdown execution.
- Oversee the preparation, pre-work, and execution stages of campaigns and shutdowns according to the relevant procedures and standards.
- Gather the required information into the Bookies Board and coordinate with onshore counterparts so execution readiness is confirmed.
- Take the actions needed to make sure the planned objectives are met.
- Support the Offshore Installation Manager by preparing a detailed and complete execution plan for each campaign or shutdown.
- Issue daily progress reports to the NOC OC Campaign & Shutdown coordinator and through the same channel.
- Coordinate contractor personnel to ensure work is completed safely and reliably.
- Help develop level 4 plans to protect and maintain the critical path.
Job scope and dimensions
- Coordinate campaign and shutdown preparation in alignment with SD-NOC-MNT-200 and the campaign/shutdown management procedure.
- Contribute directly to Al-Shaheen field production targets by helping ensure campaigns and shutdowns are completed within the approved duration.
- Supervise and coordinate 5 campaigns each year, covering about 1,200 work orders.
- Supervise and coordinate 2 shutdowns each year, covering about 500 work orders.
- Track and report campaign and shutdown preparation progress as required by the management procedure.
- Work with the onshore OC coordinator on any issues that arise during execution.
- Maintain a cost-conscious approach in every campaign and shutdown.
- The role involves managing interfaces both inside and outside the company.
- Internal stakeholders include production, inspection and maintenance, campaign, engineering & construction, HSE, contracts & procurement, drilling and well services, and logistics.
- External stakeholders include contractor representatives and vendors of services and equipment.
Work environment
This position is based in an OPCO joint-venture oil and gas facility covering offshore and non-producing onshore sites, with the primary base offshore in Doha, Qatar. It is part of the permanent team and follows a 28/28 offshore rotation. Ad hoc trips to shore and to original equipment manufacturer or service-company workshops are expected.
Reporting line
The role reports to the Lead Campaign/Lead Shutdown (N+1) and the Head, Campaign/Shutdown (N+2). There are no direct reports or subordinate positions.
Education
A BSc, graduate engineer qualification, or equivalent relevant experience in oil and gas operations is required.
Experience and technical background
- Strong knowledge of campaign and shutdown management methods, preferably gained in petrochemical, refining, or oil and gas exploration/production environments.
- Basic familiarity with planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Excellent skills in planning, organisation, and communication.
- Proven leadership ability and comfort working in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural setting.
- Very good command of English, including speaking, listening, writing, and technical terminology.
- Self-driven and able to operate with limited supervision.
- Advanced user capability in SAP CMMS.
- Medical fitness to work on an offshore oil and gas platform.
