Job description
Position Overview
The Camp Management Officer is tasked with overseeing the accommodation and overall camp operations specifically for Chinese employees. This role involves facilitating communication, fostering cultural integration, and ensuring that camp services, employee welfare, and compliance standards are maintained at a high level.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accommodation management for camps hosting a significant number of Chinese staff.
- Act as the central communication conduit among Chinese residents, the Facilities Department, external contractors, and company leadership.
- Provide both verbal and written translation services between English and Mandarin as needed.
- Assist Chinese employees with reporting issues related to maintenance, accommodation, transportation, and other camp services.
- Oversee services such as housekeeping, catering, laundry, grounds maintenance, and accommodation to ensure they meet set standards.
- Perform regular inspections of the camp and initiate corrective measures for any shortcomings found.
- Manage room allocation, check-in/check-out processes, and occupancy records.
- Coordinate orientations and onboarding sessions for newly arrived Chinese employees, informing them about camp rules, facilities, and emergency protocols.
- Encourage cultural exchange programs to build positive relationships between Chinese and local staff members.
- Guide contractors on cultural considerations and communication expectations when serving Chinese personnel.
- Address and help resolve complaints related to camp living through efficient communication and prompt action.
- Maintain precise accommodation records, occupancy statistics, and reporting data.
- Ensure that contractors meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and company policies.
- Regularly report to the Facilities Manager on camp operations, service delivery, resident feedback, and areas for improvement.
- Support emergency response efforts by facilitating communication with Chinese-speaking employees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate in Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Translation, or similar discipline.
- Proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is essential.
- At least three years of relevant experience in camp management, hospitality, accommodation management, or facilities operations.
- Prior exposure to working with Chinese nationals or in a multicultural setting.
- Experience in mining or industrial camp environments is advantageous.
- Skills in translation or interpretation are highly preferred.
