Role overview
Honeywell is hiring a CAD Specialist I to support the creation and development of mechanical design solutions. In this position, you will use your CAD expertise and understanding of design fundamentals to help produce accurate, dependable, and high-quality engineering outputs. Your work will contribute directly to mechanical design activities and to the delivery of innovative solutions.
This role is part of a collaborative environment where your design input, technical judgment, and attention to detail will influence product quality and support the broader direction of mechanical development.
What you will do
- Prepare process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams for different process technologies.
- Gather the necessary inputs by consulting with stakeholders to ensure drawings are developed correctly.
- Work on assignments that require customer-specific symbols and drafting standards.
- Operate under close guidance while delivering clearly defined outcomes.
- Apply standard engineering and technical methods to routine drafting and design tasks.
- As part of a cross-functional project team, produce engineering deliverables that are accurate, timely, complete, and aligned with UOP processes and procedures.
- Carry out basic engineering checks and collect all information needed to define design requirements.
- Understand revamp and revision work and represent P&ID changes appropriately.
- Use advanced computer-aided drafting and checking practices to choose the most effective drawing presentation.
- Follow corporate HS&E policies and observe office and field safety practices as well as engineering design requirements.
- Provide support to other UOP product line work related to 2D drafting when needed, including reactor mechanical drafting, plot plans, and vessel drafting.
Qualifications and requirements
- Strong grasp of the core principles of 2D drafting.
- Ability to create P&IDs and PFDs.
- Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Excel spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with mechanical drafting for vessels, reactors, and plot plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with international teams.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
- Self-driven, able to work independently, and comfortable contributing as part of a team.
- Fabrication experience and business understanding will be considered an advantage.
