Job description
Overview
We are partnering with a dynamic civil engineering and surveying firm seeking a proficient CAD Designer to create precise, production-level drawings for land development, site planning, and survey-related projects. This position involves close cooperation with licensed engineers and surveyors to transform field measurements, design concepts, and calculations into comprehensive, permit-ready documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
The ideal candidate is meticulous, highly experienced with Civil 3D software, and adept at handling multiple ongoing projects within a demanding and deadline-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop civil engineering plans including grading, drainage, utility layouts, and site design utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Integrate survey field data to prepare base and existing conditions drawings.
- Draft legal plats, easements, legal descriptions, and survey exhibits.
- Maintain and apply CAD standards, templates, layer conventions, and LISP automation scripts.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and surveyors to clarify design details and ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and submit permit packages and respond to municipal review comments.
- Organize drawing revisions and project file management.
- Assist in quantity calculations and develop construction details.
Candidate Qualifications
Required:
- At least 2 years of direct experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D production.
- Experience creating civil site plans from concept through permit-ready submissions.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, legal documents, and surveys accurately.
- Strong attention to detail ensuring high accuracy.
- Capable of managing numerous active drawing projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Background in land development, subdivision, or site design projects.
- Knowledge of AutoLISP scripting and workflow automation.
- Experience with survey data processing, including point files and boundary drafting.
- Familiarity with municipal permitting standards and processes.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related discipline.
