Job description
About the Role
We are seeking Buying Assistants to join a founder-led Australian women's fashion brand located in the Northern Beaches. This brand started small but has become a prominent direct-to-consumer name in the country. Operating exclusively online, they manage a rapid turnover of products, launching 25 to 30 new styles weekly and maintaining over a thousand active products on their website at any time.
The high volume of styles demands a highly organized buying team. The role centers on the administrative tasks essential for moving products smoothly from initial sampling through to live listing on the website. Responsibilities include managing samples, liaising with suppliers, handling purchase orders, tracking shipments, overseeing product setup, and coordinating launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Create purchase orders and manage their progress up to delivery.
- Request, monitor, and oversee sample development processes.
- Maintain clear communication with suppliers regarding samples, modifications, costs, and schedules.
- Keep the project timeline accurate and ensure continual progress.
- Set up products on platforms such as Shopify and Indigo8, including uploads, pricing details, and product descriptions.
- Track shipment statuses and estimated arrival times, following up when deadlines are missed.
- Coordinate stock flows and assist in launching product ranges weekly.
- Provide support during try-on days, photoshoots, and content production sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between six months and two years of experience in buying, product management, or merchandise administration; internships in related areas are also considered.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities.
- Effective written communication skills, especially for supplier correspondence via email.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment multitasking various duties.
- Comfortable using software systems or willing to learn quickly.
- Residency near Northern Sydney or the Northern Beaches is required since the position is on-site at the Northern Beaches headquarters.
Compensation and Additional Information
The role offers a salary range between $55,000 and $75,000 per year plus superannuation, depending on experience and the specific position within the buying team. Applicants interested in entering fashion buying or progressing their career in this field are encouraged to apply.
