Job description
Role overview
The Buyer for TNF ANZ is responsible for shaping seasonal buying plans for the Australia and New Zealand DTC channel so the business can meet its direct-to-consumer financial goals. The role works closely with merchandising to make sure purchasing decisions support the planned assortment, and also partners with the regional merchant group, the local TNF ANZ sales team, and the TA Planning team to connect product strategy, market demand, and buy execution.
Pre-season responsibilities
- Build and refine demand forecasts by style and color across GTM milestones and forecast cycles, with a focus on improving forecast accuracy through complete end-to-end management.
- Coordinate with TA Planning on seasonal DTC LLT and SLT open-to-buy planning, including sales expectations and inventory assumptions.
- Work with merchandising to ensure the buy reflects the assortment strategy while also supporting growth priorities and SCO efficiency.
- Own the DTC buy plan end to end and independently determine buy quantities for 800 to 1000 SKUs each season across all categories and territories, ensuring alignment with budget, sales goals, and inventory sell-through targets.
- Lead early buy and main buy decisions, and take part in consensus discussions for top-up and drop actions.
- Review and improve DTC channel size curves developed by TA Planning, and recommend any needed adjustments.
- Combine DTC and wholesale orders and ensure they are uploaded accurately into the system.
- Align launch planning (CRD) with merchandising and manage product phasing so deliveries match demand, season timing, and healthy inventory balance.
In-season responsibilities
- Monitor sell-through during the season, identify what is performing well or poorly, and turn those insights into actions that improve sales and reduce risk.
- Support daily sales monitoring in Tableau and help with target upload processes.
- Partner with TA Planning on markdown, promotion, and exit choices to protect profitability while supporting premium marketplace execution.
- Work with TA Planning and the APAC inventory management team on inventory control, including free-to-sell tracking, rolling inventory reviews, and clearance planning to help achieve ANZ year-end inventory targets.
Experience and profile
The ideal candidate should bring strong knowledge of outdoor products and the TNF brand, along with retail and product expertise in ANZ markets. The role calls for working knowledge of P&L, a clear understanding of consumer needs, and the ability to recognize retail apparel trends. Strong organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential, as are excellent presentation, communication, and influencing abilities. The person should be comfortable working across functions, interacting with both senior leaders and junior team members, adapting quickly to changing business needs, and coaching and developing teams for long-term growth.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, and candidates should have at least 3 to 5 years of experience or more in the retail industry.
