Role Overview
The Butcher position is a full-time, on-site role based at the Surrey, BC location. The primary responsibilities involve breaking down and cutting meat, poultry, and seafood in line with the restaurant’s precise standards and menu demands. Daily duties include trimming, deboning, portioning, packaging, proper labeling, storage, and product rotation to maintain freshness and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Additionally, the Butcher collaborates with kitchen staff to fulfill production requirements, diligently maintains cleanliness and sanitation in preparation areas, and adheres strictly to health and safety protocols. The role may occasionally require engaging with customers or front-of-house staff to assist with special requests or menu clarifications.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in butchery techniques, meat processing including cutting, trimming, deboning, and managing portions.
- Experienced in handling poultry and seafood, familiar with proper storage, hygiene, and safety procedures.
- Capable of providing courteous and professional service when interacting with guests or front-of-house personnel.
- Knowledgeable about food safety standards, HACCP guidelines, and sanitation practices within a kitchen environment.
- Physically able to stand for long periods, lift and move meat products, and work in cold/refrigerated conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow precise recipes, specifications, and protocols.
- Previous experience as a butcher or in an equivalent role within a restaurant, butcher shop, or food production setting is preferred.
- Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
