Job description
About Hire A Hubby
Hire A Hubby stands as Australia’s premier national handyman franchise, delivering extensive property maintenance services to both residential and commercial clients since 1996. The operation is driven through a network of independently owned franchises, commonly called “Hubbies,” spread throughout the country. Franchise owners undergo police checks, obtain Work Health Safety certifications, hold public liability insurance, and carry photo identification to enhance customer trust and safety. Although known primarily for minor maintenance tasks, franchisees also undertake larger projects like kitchen and bathroom renovations, pergola constructions, and decking installations, complying with licensing rules. Customer feedback is encouraged to uphold superior service standards and continuous development.
Role Overview
As the Business Owner of the Hire A Hubby franchise in Weston Creek, you will lead and manage a fully operational handyman service, balancing technical property maintenance with business management responsibilities. Duties include providing quotes, scheduling and executing repair and maintenance work, supervising renovation and small construction projects in accordance with licensing requirements, and ensuring safety and high workmanship standards. You will cultivate local customer relationships, oversee finances including budgeting and cash flow, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors when necessary, and actively promote your business within the community. The position benefits from an established presence with a loyal customer base throughout Canberra and its environs. Collaboration with the wider Hire A Hubby franchise network and adherence to company systems, branding, and quality controls are expected to foster business growth.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven proficiency in general maintenance, repairs, and basic carpentry, capable of managing small to medium renovation projects such as kitchens, bathrooms, pergolas, and decking.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build enduring client relationships, address feedback with professionalism, and positively represent the franchise.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines reliably.
- Relevant trade or handyman experience is essential; formal certifications or licenses in trades like building or carpentry are highly preferred when required by local laws.
