Job Overview
Keda Ghana Ceramics Company Limited seeks an experienced Business Manager to oversee the interface between their new Glass Project and external parties such as government bodies, traditional leaders, utility companies, and local communities. The role focuses on ensuring all legal, social, and operational aspects of the factory are securely established, supporting infrastructure setup and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee transfer processes of both Stool and private lands, working closely with the Lands Commission to certify leaseholds and registrations meet legal standards.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with the Traditional Council and local Chiefs, addressing disputes related to land boundaries, compensation claims, or construction impacts proactively.
- Coordinate community labor needs and manage expectations to prevent disruptions during construction phases.
- Maintain the company’s social license by engaging continuously with local communities.
- Lead negotiations and monitor progress with utility providers including GRIDCo/ECG for electricity and GWCL for water supply tailored to industrial requirements.
- Manage arrangements for gas supply and related infrastructure in collaboration with GNPC and Ghana Gas, including supervising gas station build and price discussions.
- Supervise local contractors responsible for site leveling and road access development.
- Handle registration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and make quota applications to secure customs duty exemptions on machinery and equipment imports.
- Coordinate clearance processes for large industrial equipment at Tema or Takoradi ports, addressing issues with GRA-Customs concerning inspections and duty fees.
- Direct the Free Zone status application process with GFZB to access tax advantages when applicable.
- Ensure all required permits—including environmental, standards, fire safety, and building approvals—are obtained and renewed timely.
- Serve as the lead liaison for Immigration (GIS) and Police services, overseeing inspections and ensuring site security.
- Manage crisis responses and coordinate security efforts with relevant authorities.
Candidate Qualifications
- At least five years’ experience managing large industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects in Ghana.
- Expert understanding of Ghanaian government administration and the Land Act.
- Existing communication relationships with agencies such as Customs (GRA), Lands Commission, and utility providers GRIDCo/ECG.
- Fluency in English at a professional level.
- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and interpersonal skills capable of navigating complex social structures.
- Proven experience with Free Zone applications and regulatory compliance management.
- Knowledge or experience related to glass manufacturing or heavy industry environments.
