Key responsibilities
- Create and carry out a detailed new-business plan to identify, approach, and win prospective clients in the insurance market.
- Develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers, such as CFOs and risk managers, across target sectors.
- Assess client needs in depth and recommend insurance solutions tailored to each situation.
- Work with internal partners, including marketing and product teams, to support smooth onboarding and service delivery.
- Keep current on market trends, Aon insights, competitor activity, and regulatory updates to spot growth opportunities.
- Prepare strong presentations, proposals, and sales pitches that clearly communicate Aon’s value proposition.
- Monitor and report sales results to management, including lead conversion, pipeline expansion, and revenue progress.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to promote the brand and strengthen market presence.
Role difference and working style
The successful candidate will act as an Insurance New Business Executive, playing a central part in increasing the client portfolio and contributing directly to revenue growth. The role is designed to provide access to the support, tools, and resources needed to perform well, while also allowing freedom to plan and execute business development initiatives independently.
Skills and experience
- Proven success in business development within a commercial environment, with a consistent record of meeting new-business targets and knowledge of corporate insurance programmes.
- A minimum CIP qualification, with progress toward MDI or ACII preferred; other business-related qualifications are also beneficial.
- Understanding of insurance products, underwriting processes, and regulatory obligations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients at different levels.
- Highly self-driven and target-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong sales capability, including identifying client needs and closing complex deals.
Colleague support and culture
Aon offers a comprehensive benefits package, an inclusive and agile workplace, and support for wellbeing and work-life balance. Colleagues also receive two Global Wellbeing Days each year. The company promotes flexible working approaches through its Smart Working model and supports continuous learning to help employees grow and reach their potential.
