Position Overview
This is a 12-month contract role based in Auckland, with work also covering Wellington, Waikato, and the Bay of Plenty. The position includes the provision of a fully maintained company vehicle, along with a company phone and tablet.

In this role, you will join our Purina Specialty Team as a commercially focused and passionate Business Development Manager, tasked with driving growth for the Purina Pro Plan portfolio across New Zealand's North Island.
This position transcends traditional sales duties by focusing on building strong, trusted partnerships with veterinary professionals, securing new business, and positively impacting pet health through top-tier nutritional solutions.
Travel Responsibilities
- Frequent travel throughout New Zealand's North Island, with about three nights away per month.
- Visiting veterinary clinics to foster relationships, conduct training, and support clients onsite.
- Occasional overnight travel for sales meetings, participation in industry events, and team activities.
Daily Activities
- Collaborate closely with veterinary professionals to extend the reach and impact of the Pro Plan products.
- Acquire new customers and maintain strong relationships with existing ones within your assigned territory.
- Organize and deliver training sessions, events, and educational programs aimed at improving pet health outcomes.
- Develop robust connections with vet clinics, breeder networks, and critical industry partners.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Veterinary teams to fuel growth and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Analyze performance data, identify business opportunities, and implement strategic plans to achieve objectives.
Success Factors
- Demonstrated success in sales or business development, with a proven ability to build and expand customer partnerships.
- Strong commercial insight that facilitates opportunity recognition, effective influence, and long-term growth.
- Comfortable and skilled in conducting presentations, trainings, and engaging, value-driven discussions with clients.
- A strategic and proactive mindset capable of juggling multiple priorities and stakeholder demands.
- Familiarity with the veterinary sector and customer expectations; prior vet nursing experience is considered advantageous.
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting veterinary professionals to achieve improved health outcomes through leading nutrition solutions.
- Must possess a full, unrestricted New Zealand driver’s license.
