Overview
This full-time, office-based Business Development Manager - Telesales role is based in Reading, Berkshire, within the UK South East region. It sits in the Business Development space for the commercial interiors, design & build, and building and construction sectors.
Compensation
The position offers a salary of £35,000 to £50,000 per year depending on experience, along with commission and additional benefits. A separate listing also notes a pay range of £30,000 to £50,000 annually plus benefits.
Role Summary
The main focus of this role is to create and qualify new business leads through direct outreach, research, and targeted prospecting. The successful candidate will support the sales journey from first contact through qualification, while helping build a healthy and consistent pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out high-volume outbound calling and structured prospecting to open new business conversations.
- Use tools and databases such as LinkedIn, CoStar, and similar industry resources to spot potential opportunities.
- Identify and develop qualified leads that can be moved into the sales pipeline.
- Research prospective clients and collect relevant market intelligence.
- Advance prospects through the sales process from early engagement to qualification.
- Keep CRM records complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Record all client details, communications, and sales activity properly.
- Monitor lead movement and pipeline performance, and share regular progress updates.
- Build and maintain relationships with potential clients and key decision-makers.
- Prepare tailored communications and supporting marketing material where needed.
- Represent the company professionally throughout the sales cycle.
- Help convert opportunities into secured projects.
- Track industry trends and market developments to support commercial growth.
- Share insights with internal teams and work closely with marketing and project delivery colleagues.
- Contribute ideas to improve business development methods and overall performance.
Required Experience and Skills
- Background in business development, sales, lead generation, or client relationship management.
- Strong experience in outbound selling and prospecting.
- Confident communication and relationship-building ability.
- Experience working with CRM systems and maintaining precise records.
- Self-driven approach with the initiative to generate opportunities independently.
- Good organisational ability and strong attention to detail.
- Experience in construction, design & build, commercial interiors, property, or workplace sectors.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CoStar, or comparable tools.
