Role overview
This position focuses on building and strengthening local partnerships in Japan to expand category performance and support merchant growth on the platform. The role requires a mix of business development, partner enablement, category planning, market analysis, and cross-functional execution.
Responsibilities
- Identify, approach, and onboard valuable local partners such as merchandise partners, manufacturers, and brands, with a focus on improving category mix and overall business value in line with customer and company priorities.
- Support merchandise partners as they set up and grow on the platform by helping them shape plans for positioning, product direction, brand promotion, and operational execution.
- Develop fresh initiatives based on the current category landscape, then turn those ideas into action by coordinating resources and guiding merchants through implementation.
- Prepare industry research and performance analysis, uncover customer needs through data-driven insights, and refine plans according to market shifts.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant operational experience, including exposure to brand management or platform operations.
- Existing relationships within local seller and vendor communities are advantageous.
- Strong analytical ability, with the capability to study industry patterns, use data to evaluate projects, and draw clear conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to identify market opportunities and contribute to innovative merchant marketing strategies.
- Solid problem-solving skills, self-driven work style, strategic thinking, and the flexibility to respond quickly to changing needs.
- Comfort working under pressure and handling logistics in high-demand periods.
