About the Role
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, this opportunity is an 18-month contractual position at a prominent global payments company. The Business Development Manager will focus on promoting and driving the adoption of digital payment acceptance solutions such as Click to Pay, Network Tokenisation, and Authentication among acquirers and merchants throughout New Zealand. The role requires managing and strengthening merchant relationships, identifying and qualifying leads, and advancing sales prospects efficiently through the pipeline.
The position follows a hybrid working schedule, with a preference for onsite presence four days a week. The contract is full-time and slated to begin as soon as possible from Auckland's central business district.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively initiate and develop new business opportunities for digital payment products by reaching out to prospective customers and managing sales through to closure.
- Conduct thorough research, cold calling, and networking to identify and qualify potential merchant clients.
- Manage various opportunities concurrently across different stages within the sales cycle to ensure continuous progress.
- Assist local account teams in enhancing client engagement and utilization of the payment acceptance solutions.
- Maintain an organized and updated pipeline of potential clients with regular follow-up communications.
- Monitor performance through key metrics and deliver regular reports on sales progress.
- Handle all steps of the sales process, from prospecting through to contract negotiation and execution.
- Coordinate with teams based in Australia to exchange knowledge and insights for market improvements.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of five years of experience in sales or business development, preferably related to payments, retail sectors, or acquiring banking services.
- Proven capability to establish and nurture relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
- Competent in managing multiple sales opportunities simultaneously at various transaction stages.
- Highly self-driven with a proactive mindset towards business growth.
- Willingness and availability to travel within New Zealand as needed.
