Job description
About the Role
This opportunity is for a proactive, commercially minded Business Development & Grant Writer to help Digitally Organic and its 10 venture businesses win funding, grants, and tender work. The role is centered on producing strong applications that create revenue, spotting suitable funding opportunities, and supporting business development efforts that contribute directly to income.
It is a results-focused position in a fast-moving startup setting, where success is judged by outcomes rather than just activity.

- Keep a well-organised record of applications, deadlines, and results
Key Responsibilities: Business Development

Key Responsibilities: Pipeline & Reporting

Desirable Experience

- Familiarity with UK or international funding platforms
- Background in business development, sales, or proposal writing
- Exposure to CRM systems or task/project management tools
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, self-motivated, and strongly outcome-driven. The ideal person takes ownership of their work and is energised by delivering real funding results for the business.
This position suits someone who wants to make a direct contribution to business growth, rather than only handle administrative tasks.
What We Are Not Looking For
- People who depend heavily on AI to produce full applications or communications without real human input, editing, or strategic adjustment
- Generic or unedited AI-generated submissions
- A copy-and-paste approach to grant and tender writing
- Poor attention to visual presentation, structure, and professional document design
- A need for constant supervision or step-by-step direction
- Low initiative in finding opportunities or managing workload
- A focus on output alone rather than actual funding outcomes
- Anyone uncomfortable in a fast-paced, performance-led startup environment
- People unable to take ownership of deadlines, pipelines, and results
Working Style Expectations
AI tools may be used only as support; they are not a substitute for strategic thinking, quality control, presentation standards, or human judgment.
