About the Role
Our client is a pioneering manufacturer leading the construction, industrial, and rail markets. They are seeking a Business Development Executive focused on the Rail sector to join their expanding team and support their ambitious growth plan targeting £5 million revenue in the UK rail industry by 2030.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and convert sales opportunities within rail main contractors, subcontractors, infrastructure providers, and train operating companies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across contractors and rail routes.
- Manage the complete sales process including requirements assessment, product specification, quotation preparation, and deal closure.
- Monitor and position for key rail projects, frameworks, and tenders early in the procurement cycle.
- Deliver expert technical advice and product recommendations aligned with rail safety, storage, and compliance standards.
- Oversee relationships with designated rail-specific reseller partners, providing product knowledge, commercial guidance, and ensuring compliance with pricing, branding, product standards, and sector expectations.
- Convert reseller-generated leads independently or collaboratively with internal teams.
- Keep CRM data updated, and support forecasting and reporting on all rail sector sales activities.
- Track rail industry trends, safety updates, infrastructure programs, and new product developments to provide feedback for innovation and new opportunities.
- Build and maintain connections with key rail industry personnel, framework holders, and senior decision makers.
- Represent the company at rail industry events, exhibitions, and supplier days.
- Work jointly with internal sales, marketing, product, and operations teams to maximize sector engagement.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven track record in business development or sales within technical B2B environments such as construction, rail, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to own and manage the entire sales cycle from initial lead generation to closing contracts.
- Experience managing reseller, distributor, or channel partner networks effectively.
- Knowledge of selling into contractors, infrastructure providers, procurement teams, or project-driven settings.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation capabilities.
- Self-driven, resilient, and persistent approach focused on delivering results.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary range from £45,000 to £50,000 annually.
- Profit-related bonus scheme.
- Office-based role in Fareham, England.
