Role overview
Vopak is hiring a Business Development Director focused on LNG in Singapore. This role is centered on driving growth aligned with energy security and the energy transition, while contributing to a workplace that values safety, inclusion, diversity, and employee satisfaction.
What you will do
You will originate and advance capital investment opportunities tied to LNG, and may take part in new business initiatives, including greenfield and brownfield projects as well as mergers and acquisitions, to support the company’s sustainable expansion.
Business development responsibilities
- Spot new opportunities, build strategic partnerships where useful, and maintain strong relationships with important stakeholders in the sector.
- Prepare and present LNG storage and terminal opportunities to Vopak’s leadership, highlighting financial value and project risks.
- Structure and negotiate partnerships and joint ventures for LNG storage and terminal initiatives.
- Handle discussions around key contracts with customers and prospective contractors, working with partners to keep projects aligned with business goals and legal and regulatory expectations.
Project development responsibilities
- Work with engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers to improve logistics and keep project delivery on track.
- Lead or support cross-functional teams as needed to ensure projects are delivered on time with strong safety and quality standards.
- Carry out market research and analysis on the LNG-to-gas environment in Southeast Asia and nearby regions, then adjust plans based on market needs.
Market insight and strategy
- Provide a quarterly LNG market update covering both short-term and long-term industry outlooks, along with recommended actions and strategy changes.
- Contribute to the growth of local team members when needed so projects can move smoothly from execution into operations.

Profile expected
The ideal candidate has deep LNG commercial experience, strong stakeholder and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams in Singapore, across the region, and globally. A solid understanding of how business is conducted in Asia is essential.
Additional requirements
You should bring more than 10 years of commercial experience in LNG, especially in origination, project development, and execution. Strong knowledge of LNG infrastructure development, industry stakeholders, logistics, and regulatory environments is expected, whether from LNG supply projects or LNG import projects. You must also be comfortable managing complex deal structures, delivering presentations, and collaborating with diverse teams across locations.
