Role Summary
We are looking for a Business Development Consultant focused on freight, logistics, 3PL, and warehousing operations. This full-cycle consultative sales role involves identifying and developing new client relationships, qualifying prospects, discovery, solution shaping, and closing deals targeting senior logistics and operations executives.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile target account lists and execute outbound outreach sequences addressing pain points in logistics, 3PL, warehousing, freight, transportation, distribution, and operations.
- Identify trigger events such as shipment growth, hiring challenges, documentation backlogs, customer service issues, system changes, mergers, new facilities, compliance needs, or freight cost visibility challenges.
- Conduct detailed consultative discovery on workflows, shipment and documentation volume, systems, exceptions, handoffs, stakeholder needs, business impact, and decision processes.
- Qualify opportunities and lead them through discovery, solution review, proposal guidance, commercial negotiation, and successful closure.
- Collaborate with Solutions, Delivery, Revenue Operations, and Commercial Leadership to design credible managed operations solutions.
- Maintain disciplined CRM records with comprehensive buyer context, qualification details, next steps, risks, source, sales stage, value, and closing plans.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in consultative sales, business development, transportation/logistics services sales, 3PL services, logistics technology, freight audit/payment, transportation back-office, warehousing services, or operations-related commercial roles.
- In-depth understanding of logistics operations, freight workflows, documentation processes, warehouse administration, and carrier/customer operational support.
- Ability to engage confidently with senior leaders such as COO, VP Operations, VP Logistics, Transportation Directors, and Finance Operations.
- Proven track record of proactive pipeline creation via outbound sales efforts, beyond managing inbound leads.
- Sound commercial instincts to discern managed operations challenges from general vendor requests in logistics prospects.
Work From Home Requirements
- 100% remote position requiring candidates to have a personal Windows-based laptop or desktop computer.
- System requirements include a minimum 14-inch Full HD (1920x1080) display, Intel Core i5 processor or better, and at least 8 GB of RAM.
- Installation of AnyDesk software is mandatory for remote access.
