About ESGpedia
ESGpedia is a leading ESG data and technology firm in Asia, based in Singapore. The company provides a platform aimed at assisting corporations, SMEs, financial institutions, and supply chains with ESG data management, carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, supply chain ESG, and sustainable finance requirements.
Role Overview
The Business Development Associate for Renewals and Growth will focus on managing subscription renewals among existing ESGpedia clients, beginning with the SME segment. This commercially oriented position collaborates closely with the Client Success team to evaluate account conditions, understand client requirements, identify renewal risks, and take responsibility for follow-up actions, commercial negotiations, contract handling, and ensuring timely renewal closure. The role involves targets linked to renewal revenue and retention, with added incentives based on performance, as well as spotting and supporting upsell and cross-sell prospects across ESGpedia's products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full renewal cycle for ESGpedia's subscription customers, initially focusing on SME accounts.
- Manage and update the renewal pipeline, including tracking upcoming renewals, statuses, projected revenues, risks, and required next steps.
- Engage customers in advance of renewal deadlines to confirm their renewal intentions, resolve commercial inquiries, and facilitate timely deal closure.
- Work jointly with Client Success to monitor client usage, satisfaction, account health, and potential churn risks.
- Lead discussions related to renewals covering pricing, contract scope, terms, and solution needs.
- Detect opportunities for upselling and cross-selling during renewals and coordinate internally to advance these sales.
- Prepare and manage renewal-related documents, such as quotations, contracts, order forms, and other paperwork.
- Follow up to secure customer approvals, signed agreements, purchase orders, and necessary renewal documentation.
- Maintain precise and current renewal data in the CRM system, including customer and deal information.
- Promptly escalate accounts at risk to collaborate with Client Success, Sales, and management teams for retention solutions.
- Contribute to enhancing ESGpedia's renewal process, covering renewal timing, CRM practices, reporting, and internal handoffs.
Candidate Requirements
- Between 1 and 3 years’ experience in renewals, account management, customer success, sales support, business development, or similar client-facing commercial roles.
- Exposure to subscription-based software, SaaS, ESG solutions, sustainability, or B2B services is a plus.
- A strong commercial sense, with confidence to handle customer follow-ups, negotiation, and renewal conversations.
- Well-organized with the ability to juggle multiple renewal deadlines effectively.
- High attention to detail especially when managing contracts, quotations, documentation, and CRM entries.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable collaborating across Business Development, Client Success, Finance, and Operations functions.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms like HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalents.
- An interest in ESG, sustainability, carbon accounting, or related technologies is advantageous.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting renewal revenue and retention goals.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The preferred candidate is commercially driven, methodical, and proactive in customer engagement. They should thrive coordinating renewal schedules, working internally across teams, and ensuring timely closures of contracts. This role is ideal for those with early career experience in renewals, sales, account management, or client success who aspire to develop a career in B2B SaaS, ESG technology solutions, and recurring revenue management.
