Business Data Analyst

Role overview

This position sits within Google’s business operations/analysis team, where complex business questions are tackled by small, focused groups. The role combines hands-on data work with strategic thinking: gathering data, converting it into actionable insights, and packaging those insights into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders. You will also support execution of the recommended actions and review their business impact afterward.

The role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, with the option to express a preference for working from either Hyderabad or Bengaluru. Working hours are aligned with the North American time zone.

What you will do

• Own one or more complex analytical workstreams or strategic initiatives as an individual contributor, including interpreting data, identifying market drivers, and creating experimental frameworks to validate hypotheses.
• Develop and implement reporting approaches, data pipelines, and interactive dashboards in partnership with stakeholders, while defining success measures that enable consistent analysis and support vendor operations at a global scale.
• Translate business needs and operational processes into solution designs that satisfy user expectations, quality standards, and long-term maintainability.
• Resolve misalignment among stakeholder goals by clarifying the underlying problem, examining assumptions, and balancing competing priorities.
• Present business findings, insights, and blockers to senior leadership and the wider organization through concise, high-impact communication.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Quantitative Science, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 6 years of experience analyzing industry trends and turning data into business insights in a corporate, data-driven setting.
• Practical experience with SQL, dataset analysis, data pipeline development, and reporting dashboard design.

Preferred qualifications

• A master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Data Science.
• About 5 years of experience designing experiments, creating statistical models, performing measurement work, and uncovering business opportunities.
• Strong problem-solving ability in complex, fast-paced, and ambiguous business environments, supported by sound data judgment and commercial awareness.
• Experience advising or influencing senior leaders through analytical decision-making.
• Familiarity with Google tools such as Plex.
• Ability to explain analysis and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences.
